We were hoping to compose a full account of Saturday's activity at ATP, helpfully located just up the road at Ally Pally, but a deadline of the utmost significance looms. Suffice to say Mogwai - who curated - Mudhoney and Dirty Three were spectacular, but an unexpected highlight was The Soft Moon - cheerfully cheerless retro-electro dirges in the Suicide vein, with a whole bunch of echoed yelping. Performed, you have to understand, in a carpeted conference room complete with office blinds at three on a sunny afternoon. Given that we failed to mark World Goth Day round here, this will do very nicely instead. More on ATP to follow. In case you were, like, worried.
More sad news today - so long Donna Summer. Pretty much everything anyone needs to know about sexy machine music is
contained within Giorgio Moroder's bliss-seeking mix of I Feel Love.
"Well, you know. A new broom..."
"Let me stop you there. I hate sweeping generalisations."
Sad news today: so long Adam Yauch...
